The Performing Musicians’ Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has commenced a nationwide update of its national database as part of preparations for the disbursement of the Copyright Levy to eligible members.
In a notice issued to musicians across the country, PMAN called on its members to promptly complete the Copy Levy Beneficiary Verification exercise, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between PMAN and the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria Ltd/Gte (MCSN) on July 1, 2020.
The association said the verification exercise is aimed at confirming eligible beneficiaries and ensuring that accurate, up-to-date records are captured ahead of the first tranche of levy disbursement. PMAN attributed the progress made so far to the sustained leadership of its president, Mr. Pretty Okafor, noting that the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to safeguard the rights and welfare of performing musicians nationwide.
According to PMAN, members are required to submit correct personal and professional details, including their state and local government area of residence, valid means of identification, proof of musical work and bank account information where applicable.
The association stressed that the verification process is completely free and warned members against paying any individual or submitting multiple or false entries, noting that such actions would lead to automatic disqualification.
PMAN urged musicians to complete the verification without delay to secure their eligibility for the first phase of the Copyright Levy disbursement, adding that support is available for members who require assistance during the process.
The notice was signed by the Acting General Secretary of PMAN, Elizabeth Khara Gabriel, Esq., who reaffirmed the association’s commitment to transparency and fair distribution in the administration of musicians’ entitlements.
